Heavy bag gloves are better, the boxing gloves will wear out quickly if you use them on the heavy bag. Your palms hurt? Do you mean the bones in your palms called the maticarpels(sp?)? Are you wrapping your hands? You absolutely have to. Buy a pair of hand wraps for boxing and learn to wrap them on the net. Or buy the new wrap alternative, the everlast gloves which come in several different colors now. The wraps usually cost about $2, but the wrap alternatives cost about $20. Stretch the hand before heavy striking and make sure to consentrate on technique, not power at first. You may be hitting the bag all wrong and causing pain that way. Later when you get more advanced you can start hitting the bag harder. Right now focus on technique and speed. Try to get the "pop" sound from hitting right now, later work for the "thud". Hand pain is a part of our sport, but you have to keep it under control. If you make it as a fighter your hands will be paying the bills.
