Do you have proper sources on "Civil Unions" in CA? I tried your link and it didn't work. Anyways, what I thought I had read was that CA has a comprehensive "Domestice Partnership" law, similar to "Common Law." I don't think it offers all the protections of Civil Unions.
THe only states with civil unions is VT and CT that I was aware of.
