You can compete anytime you like as long as you are registered.
Regarding the weight, since you are new, I would just continue to focus on your tech and train well and fight at whatever weight you land unless you are just a few pounds over. You should ask your coach tho. He will give you the best advice and if he is involved with your comps he may have ideas for you. Later down the road, as you get more advanced and get to know more comp, you will find a weight that you would like to fight at, or more accurately, WHO you DON'T want to fight.

Well I'm glad I finally started Judo anyways, and happier even that Bill is training me... I'm just a little whiney tonite because of Shamrock (who was/is my hero, I'm richieb19 btw)...
Anyways I gained weight purposely as a challenge to myself to lose it (but recieves stretch marks on my arms and hips in the process)... now I'm running over an hour each day (1000 calories) in order to drop... Just wondering if I'd do better at a lower weight...
btw Q I love Judo... and as a quick question to you, are arm triangles a Judo sub? Because I finished someone with one tonight, and asked Bill if it was legal (he wasnt watching), but he seemed to not know what it was...
