I always though it was from Frye saying that Ken wasn't a real MMA champion (no tourney wins) and Ken took offense to that. They were both pro wrestlers so much of the hype seemed like it was them trying to spark a feud to get attention, nothing really personal, just their pro wrestling personalities coming out.
