Caught Bas in a Little Lie

El Guapo is great. I really enjoy his commentary and instructionals, however, in his Big DVD's of Combat and his most recent article in Tapout magazine he fudges a little when talking about doing warm up on the treadmill. He says that he does 11 m.p.h. on the treadmill for 10 minutes while warming up. This is the euivalent to running 5:30 per mile pace. Being that I am a former D1 collegiate runner, I beyond skeptical of Bas, a heavyweight fighter over 40 with various ailments, being able to sustain that pace for 3 minutes, nonetheless 10. To put this in perspective...If you run under 10 minutes for the 2 mile in high school, you will be in the top 10 in your state. You could feasibly get a scholarship to a school in order to run on their track team. Sure, people will say that he's a professional athlete and all, but if he ran this as a warm-up, as he claims, he would be spent and unable to do the other hour of his warm up.

I only point this out just to demystify a guy who people see as doing no wrong. I like the guy a lot, but just make sure that you take his (and other pros) advice as that, advice, and not gospel.
