I actually love running on the tmill. Some people get bored....but not me...I could do it for hours. Much easier on my joints imo. I have mine programmed for sprints and inclines...I really like the workout. The road is hard on my shins and I don't like running on it if I don't have to. I would prefer a nice trail run.....but I certainly can live with the treadmill.
