Anyways that is a huge ramble.. These guys were really cool but like I said they had little MMA knowledge and I was concerned about the school they train at. I am new to BJJ so I don't know shit from shit but I watched the sport long enough to know a little something. They also had huge bruises all over their arms, and they said they went to some TKD school and had guys kick them in the arms so they could get used to being kicked... Maybe it is good training but I wouldn't do it.. geesh.. Are the most of the people you meet in BJJ, wrestling, judo, boxing classes or whatever you take somewhat educated in MMA besides UFC?

Most of the guys I know that like MMA are mainly from Boxing backgrounds having watched it as kids. 2 of my buddies train martial arts, 1 is some weirdo Kung Fu school he goes too with his girlfriend and the other trains Hapkido. For the most part, what they know about MMA stems from Spike TV and whatever comes up in conversation while I'm around and I'm the teacher on MMA for my buddies ... they know I know alot about it but they're pretty limited.
Alot of them think BJJ is "it" and there is nothing else... there are some of them who still think a Boxer would smash all these chumps... so it'll take some education in time. I truly wish UFC would start to acknowledge the existance of established organizations out there in the world such as Pride, ADCC etc. instead of being off-hand comments by Joe Rogan. Hopefully this step towards Pride vs. UFC fights being scheduled will improve this stance in the States.
