Here are the rules from the original post. We will be going with the Free For All. Setup so hurry and reply and get your spot before they are filled.

Alright I'm a pretty big sports fan and regularly do ESPN and Yahoo's Fantasy Leagues in Baseball and Footbal. I was thinking it would be fun to do an MMA Fantasy League, people have tried this in various forms but basically it ends up being a a pick-em contest. I was thinking of getting on together in a more traditional style where you pick X amount of fighters and every month get points based off their wins / losses. Here's how it would work.

How Many Fighters do you Pick?

2 Heavyweights

2 Light Heavies

2 Middletweights

2 Welterweights

2 Lightweights

Up to 3 "Catch" Spots

How does it work?

Every month you'll put forward 3 Fighters who will be fighting that month(No less than 7 days before their fight.) Of those 3 fighters you will be scored on how they do in their respective fights. Here's an example of how scoring will work.

Win by Decision or DQ-1 Point

Win by Stoppage(Sub, KO, TKO.)- 2 points

* All points are doubled if the fight is in PRIDE / UFC

* A win in a Title Fight adds an extra point

Thus lets say you had Rich Franklin and well do his recent fight with the Crow.

1(For the win)+1(For the Title Fight) x2(Because it's in UFC= 4

THus Rich got you 4 points for the fight.

What if three of my fighters aren't fighting this month?

THat's what the 3 "Catch" spots are for, if and ONLY if you have less than 3 fighters fighting that month you can pick a fighter that HAS NOT BE DRAFTED BY ANYONE ELSE IN THE LEAGUE to fill a temporary slot in your roster. These are on a first come first serve bases so the first person to e-mail me saying,"Hey I want to pick up Sato because I only have Arlovski and Hendo fighting this month." Gets the person they wanted.

How many people do you need for the league? How much is it? What do I win?

15. It's free. Bragging rights.(If it works out we'll see.)

Can I drop / trade / pick up players?

Of course. The first Friday of every month you can handle that via message board discussion.

Why not just pick up Champions and Major Org fighters?

No reason not to fighters in major orgs tend to fight less and CHampions fight even less than regular fighters, so if you do that be ready to pick up alot of "catch" fighters.

How will the draft work?

The draft order will be randomly selected. And the second round Number 1 will move down to number 16 and all others will move up one spot. It continues like this till everyone fills every spot on their roster. Approx. 20 rounds.

Where do I sign up?

Just reply here. The casual nature of this lends it to be something we can do via Sherdog message boards as I don't have the time nor ability to put up a proper website, I will keep you well informed via e-mail and at the pre set times threads will put up to serve the various functions.

Can we have cool animal names and logos with stuff like Sharks wearing gloves so they won't break their fins when they punch?

This isn't the IFL. Your team will be your Sherdog user name.

Ok When does this start?

The draft, deciding who's in, ect. will be done over the next couple weeks, the league will start in April.

Ok I'm new to fantasy Leagues any tips?

Take all the following into account.

How good is the fighter?

How often does he fight?

How often does he finish?

Where does he fight?

Does he have a Title?

There are a wide varitiety of strategies. Someone may take Jeremy horn because there's a good chance he will fight every month. Someone else may take Franklin because when he fights you get HUGE points for that month.

How obscure are the fighters we can pick?

I'll say within reason. Do they regularly fight in orgs like SHOOTO, KotC, WEC, ZST, Pancrase, D.O.G., RotR, ect.? Then they'll be fine but if you pick someone who's the Heavyweight Champions of Uncle Billies Backyard Cagefight Challenge I'm probably gonna give you a no on picking them.

What if my fighter gets hurt before his fight and I've already picked him?

If it's more than 7 days out that's fine if it's less you forfeit. Sorry, but take into account this sort of thing when drafting.

How does scoring work?

I may very well run two, if there is enough response. But here are the two.

1. Free for All

Every month depending you get between 1 and 16 points.(16 for first place that month 1 for last.) At the end of 12 months highest score wins.

2 Head to Head

Every month a fighter is matched up with another fighter and gets either a win / loss / or a draw. After the "Round Robin" Tournament is over the top eight will go to a "Playoff" and the winner of that will be delcared "Champin". (Note: This is much longer than the more casual "Free for All" and involves more strategy it's for the more commited, those with a better knowledge of MMA, or how fantasy sports work.)

How will you deal with inactivity?

Your inactive for a month and don't e-mail me first your gone. We'll take on someone new let him pick from all available fighters and give him a point total or record on par with the last place active guy. Now if you have something like a busy month at work, family problem, illness, or injury and you e-mail me I'll do my best to make your picks for you till your feeling better.

Alright sounds like fun how do I sign up?

Either reply or send a PM with the following. Your e-mail and what version of the league you wanna be in. Pick your favorite first if you wanna be in both ebcause if we have more than 15 people sign up we'll put in a 1 person per league rule.

ALright guys enjoy and have fun and keep it(Kind of) civil.
