Ok...at the ppv that had 97,000 seats filled, how many ppv buys did they have? Which show had greater profits. Also, bringing up the Matt Hughes comment is assinine since the 170 pound division in UFC has been around far longer than the 185 or 160 divisions in PRIDE. Basically PRIDE is bigger, but with the exception of HW no PRIDE weight class is that dominant if at all over its UFC coutnerpart.
HW - PRIDE
LHW - PRIDE
MW - TIE
WW - UFC by default and even if PRIDE put a division together it would get scorched. This is one of the deepest talent pools in any org at any weight class.
LW - PRIDE but UFC is coming on strong and since PRIDE has a lot of top fighters who are not exclusive to PRIDE and fight maybe once or twice a year, I am not sure (Hansen and Kwajeri only fight on occasion for PRIDE)
Further, UFC has shown exponential growth over the last 2 years which PRIDE has not. The gap is closing between the two.
