My picks:

Robert De Niro - Raging Bull
F. Murray Abraham - Amadeus
Daniel Day-Lewis - My Left Foot

Robert De Niro - Raging Bull

Henry Fonda - On Golden Pond

Ben Kingsley - Gandhi

Robert Duvall - Tender Mercies

F. Murray Abraham - Amadeus

William Hurt - Kiss of the Spider Woman

Paul Newman - The Color of Money

Michael Douglas - Wall Street

Dustin Hoffman - Rain Man

Daniel Day-Lewis - My Left Foot

In no particular order:

  • Michael Douglas - Wall Street
  • Dustin Hoffman - Rain Man
  • Daniel Day-Lewis - My Left Foot

great thread. Probably too tough for me to pick right off the bat. Douglas, Hoffman, and Murray are iconic in those movies in my opinion but it seems very tough to pick against DeNiro, Kingsley, and DDL.

Let’s say DeNiro and Kingsley are locks and then one of those other four lol.

A lot of great performances there overall though. Might not have been Newman’s best but I love his work in The Color of Money and just think it’s a fun film. Hurt was excellent along with his co-Star the legend Raul Julia (RIP to both). Duvall in Tender Mercies is the epitome of a subtle, nuanced performance. Guy is an icon. For whatever reason, I often forget he won an Oscar.

never saw Pond but Fonda was typically excellent in a wide variety of films.

Very nicely said, thanks for voting as well.

only saw 3 of those (gandi, raging bull, and color of money), so can't vote.
